Tips for Cardiovascular Health

Cardiovascular health should be a major concern for all Americans. With a majority of the population at risk for heart disease and cardiovascular problems, there is a dire need for education and healthy-lifestyle changes. Over 82 million people suffer from some type of cardiovascular disease, and a majority of these cases are from diet and lifestyle choices.

Causes Of Heart Disease

Heart disease is primarily diet and lifestyle related. High cholesterol, diabetes type two, hypertension, smoking, drug abuse and alcoholism are known causes of the condition. Genetic dispositions may also increase the risk of getting the disease. People that live a healthy life have a much reduced risk.

Preventative Measures

Heart disease can lead to a heart attack or stroke, causing an AED Brands defibrillator to likely be used to start your heart again. Preventing heart disease is as easy as eating a low-fat diet, abstaining from cigarettes and avoiding excess consumption of alcohol. Diet is a primary focus, and it is proven that a vegetarian diet can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease. It can even reverse cardiovascular-health problems.  A significant lifestyle change is going to be the deciding factor in how well a person can fight off the risks of cardiovascular diseases.

If current trends are followed, heart-disease statistics are going to gradually increase. Younger people are developing these problems too, and it all points back to a sedentary lifestyle and a poor diet.

Ways To Stay Healthy

You can stay healthy by eating a low-fat and high-fiber diet. Fiber acts as a cleansing system and scrubs out all of the excess fat and cholesterol from your arteries. A low-fat diet prevents diabetes, which is a known precursor to heart disease.

Daily exercise will go a long way in boosting heart health. It only takes about 10,000 steps per day to maintain good health. Cardiovascular experts recommend a minimum of 150 minutes of exercise per week. That is all it takes to maintain a strong and healthy heart and prevent heart disease. Staying healthy isn’t as hard as it seems. Eat plenty of fresh food, move your body and avoid alcohol and cigarettes.

Changing your lifestyle may sound boring or difficult, but it is worth it to be healthy for many more decades to come. Heart disease will cut your life short and contribute to your suffering. Clogged arteries and heart attacks are not only life threatening, they are also very expensive. Make the changes now to save yourself and your pocket book the pain later.
